The Drunken Apple is the perfect beverage for your fall party, Halloween, or evening spent relaxing and watching the autumn sunset. The cider base makes the brew smoky, sweet, crisp, and refreshing. Then, smooth bourbon and spicy ginger liqueur mingle with maple syrup and cinnamon for a full fall experience! The Drunken Apple is a warm hug in cocktail form!
Ingredients
- 1 gallon apple cider
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
- 4 cinnamon sticks, plus more, to taste, for garnish
- 1 tablespoon whole allspice berries
- 4 whole star anise pods
- 2 cups bourbon
- 1 cup ginger liqueur
Directions
Step 1 -In a large, heavy pot, add the cider and the maple syrup and stir to combine.
Step 2 -Add 4 of the cinnamon sticks, the allspice, and the star anise to the cider mixture.
Step 3 -Cover the pot and place it over medium-low heat.
Step 4 -Bring the cider mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low.
Step 5 -Gently simmer the cider mixture for 30 minutes.
Step 6 -Add the bourbon and the ginger liqueur to the cider mixture and stir to combine.
Step 7 -Serve garnished with the extra cinnamon sticks.
