Ingredients
- For the brownies:
- 1/2 cup butter, plus more, to taste, for greasing the pan
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, plus more, to taste, for dusting the pan
- 1 cup white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- For the frosting:
- 3 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1 cup confectioners' sugar
- 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 -Use the extra butter to grease an 8-inch square pan, then use the extra flour to lightly dust the greased pan.
Step 3 -In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt 1/2 cup of the butter.
Step 4 -Transfer the pan from the heat and allow the butter to cool slightly.
Step 5 -Add the white sugar, the eggs, and 1 teaspoon of the vanilla to the melted butter and stir until well-combined.
Step 6 -Add 1/3 cup of the cocoa powder, the remaining 1/2 cup of the flour, the salt, and the baking powder to the butter mixture and beat until smooth.
Step 7 -Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
Step 8 -Bake until the top of the brownie mixture is dry and the edges start to pull away from the sides of the pan, about 25-30 minutes.
Step 9 -Transfer the pan from the oven and allow the brownies to cool briefly, about 5-10 minutes, before frosting.
Step 10 -In a bowl, add the remaining softened butter, the confectioners' sugar, the remaining cocoa powder, the honey, and the remaining vanilla extract, and stir until smooth.
Step 11 -Evenly spread the frosting over the brownies while they are still warm.
Step 12 -Serve.
